Ilona P. BENKŐ

ceramic artist

She graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts in 1961, as a student of Miklós Borsos. She creates wall plastic art of her own design and objects using manual wheel throwing. She is a member of the Hungarian Art Fund, the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists, the Hungarian Ceramists’ Society, the International Academy of Ceramists and the Hungarian Academy of Arts, as well as a member of the Prizma 13 and Terra ceramic groups. She received the Munkácsy Award in 1976 and the title Meritorious Artist of Hungary in 2021. She has won gold medals at several international ceramics biennials and exhibitions, and her works can be found in prestigious Hungarian and European public collections.
