Enikő KONTOR

1983, Budapest

ceramic designer

She graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest in 2010. The most important venue for her activity as an artist is the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskemét, where she works with wood-fired kilns and reduction firing processes. She is an experimental type making functional objects as well as ceramic artworks. Her forms are distinguished by mature simplicity, while the surface of her pieces are given a starkly rustic finish. She is drawn to basic shapes, looking for the ‘individual character’ of these universal signs. She is a regular participant in artists’ colonies and professional events. She won the Lajos Kozma Scholarship in 2014 and has been the grantee of the Hungarian Academy of Arts since 2020. She won the first prize at the Hungarian Ceramics Biennial in 2021.
