Klára TAMÁS

She graduated from the Ion Andreescu Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj in 1970. Between 1972 and 1982 she worked as a graphic designer for the publishing houses Meridiane and Kriterion in Bucharest. In 1992 she moved to New York, where she worked for more than two decades and from 2004 to 2009 she also ran Symbol Gallery there, an exhibition space for contemporary art. In 2014, she moved to Budapest, where she opened her apartment gallery ARTaltar Salon the following year. Her graphic art, posters for film, theatre and advertising, as well as her monumental tapestries have been on show in numerous international exhibitions. In 1984 she won the Grand Prize at the Chicago Film Festival. Her work can be seen in numerous private collections around the world, as well as in public collections such as the MoMA in New York, the Albertina in Vienna and the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
