Noémi Ferenczy Award-winning designer artist

He graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts as a tool designer / machine industry designer in 1966. He worked at Ganz Electricity Works, then became a freelance designer in 1977. Between 1984 and 1993 he was studio head, deputy director, and then director of the Master Training Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts. In 1992, he obtained his DLA degree and simultaneously he was appointed university professor. From 1993 to 2001 he was Head of the Department of Design, and from 2001 to 2006 he was Director General of the Museum of Applied Arts. His career and his works represent a valuable part of modern Hungarian industrial history. From 2011 he was a full member of the MMA, and from 2012 until his death he headed its Section for Applied Arts and Design, where he initiated and organised numerous art education projects. In 2014 he was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary.
