Mátyás PATAKI

, 1969, Budapest – 2021, Budapest

metal art designer, founder of the world-famous tile factory Pataki Tiles

He graduated from high school in Szeged in 1987. He wanted to become a sculptor initially, but became a silversmith at the Hungarian Mint instead. In 2004 he founded the family manufactory Pataki Tiles in Újszentiván, which produces manually pressed or cast tiles in small series, using artisan techniques. The company, which employs just a couple of people, is known throughout Europe for its quality ceramic tiles, but also regularly supplies other parts of the world. Pataki tiles can be found in many London hotels and restaurants, in Tuscan hotels and villas, and the floor of the 14th century All Saints Church in York is also their work.
